US Skeleton National Trials Race 4: Park City

Race 4 Finished a week ago with Noelle winning the 4th and final National Team Trials race.  For some reason it always seems harder to update the blog when we're home. But here are a few pictures from that night.

Thank you everyone for coming out to support Noelle!  There was an amazing crowd, one that would rival the Olympic crowd! 98% of which was there for Noelle!  Check out the night below.

Noelle is waving to the enormous crowd at the start, just after she loaded onto her sled!

Noelle Pikus-Pace after her 4th and final run!

Noelle Pikus-Pace having fun with some of the fans!

This is just a portion of the many people there to cheer Noelle on!

This is the Noelle's perspective as she gets ready to slide down the track.  It looks pretty intimidating knowing that all of these people are expecting you to do your best!  She does a great job at that!

Park City National Skeleton Team Trials
The Park City team trials races will take place on Monday and Tuesday, October 28 & 29.
     When: Monday 28, 8:00-10:00 a.m.
     When: Tuesday 29, 7:00-9:00 p.m.

US Nationals Skeleton Race 1

AfterRace 1 Update
Race 1 is out of the way and Noelle finished in 1st Place.  She had a good weekend where she could relax and find her mental groove again.

Race #2 Tuesday Morning, Oct 22

  • Race is at 6:30 a.m. MST again.
  • Noelle is 1st off after The Men Go, order is based on results today.
  • Skeleton Race can be viewed here:

http://www.teamusa.org/~/link.aspx?_id=A4C5A275637C4FD3A1BFF642A2F1E6F4&_z=z

Insider Update
It is not as easy as you would think to be able to go down the track and stay 100% focused the entire time! You can't choose when that focus time is.  They tell you when to go and the clock ticks down letting you know it needs to be game time and everything has to come together in that moment.  This is what make Noelle the best at what she does!  She can focus and knows exactly what to do every inch of the track, even when things go wrong.
Lacee is doing a warm-up with Annie O'Shea.  Returning from last years warm-up bonding :)

Team Trials Race: Day 1 Lake Placid, NY

US National Team Trials Skeleton Race

For those just checking in, Noelle Pikus-Pace will be competing in the US National Team Trials.  We are in Lake Placid, NY where the race will take place Monday and Tuesday.

The Race is set for tomorrow morning (Monday Oct. 21) beginning at 6:30 a.m. MST.  Noelle will be 1st off, so don't sleep in!!!.  The race can be viewed here at this link:

The 2nd run should begin about at about 8:00 a.m. MST.

The weather is finally getting a little colder but it does warm up pretty quick.  Hopefully the ice conditions will make for fast ice and fair racing.

Thanks for checking in and we hope you enjoy the race.  Noelle has been sliding well and has been focusing most of her time figuring out the push.  A push time of 5.60 or better for her would be really good the next 2 days in Lake Placid.

Farewell Whistler! Gold Noelle!

It is really late or really early right now (1 a.m.).  We had the 2nd ICC race tonight where Noelle had the 2 fastest runs and WON it!!!  Wahoo!!  A good way to end our 2 week stay here in Whistler, Canada.  We will hit the road tomorrow morning for Winterberg, Germany where Noelle will compete in her 2nd World Cup race next week.  Stay tuned to the blog and I will keep it updated with her schedule and race times.  Just a heads up though, these races in Europe will most likely be at the weee hours of the morning.  I know there might be a few die hards out there, so if you're one of them, the races might be broadcast live on youtube or the ipad app.
Thanks for all the prayers, thoughts and support we couldn't do this without you all!  Here are some highlights from the last couple of days.

Noelle made a top 25 list we just heard about today:

He was a handful, so I had to stuff him in the stroller!

Us in front of the Whistler start house.

You can't ever run out of toys- just find a pillow bag and walah!

Tired, plus really cold, plus really wet, plus a delay on the track, plus really hungry =, this.

Noelle pushing on her 2nd run on the 2nd ICC race.

Awards on the first night where Noelle placed 2nd.

Day 2, rain stopped and snow started!  Lacee found a natural elephant to ride.

We made a mini snowman, and yes he has an apple for a mouth and a banana peel for a hat.

Race 2, Noelle placed 1st and claimed the Gold in style!

Team USA on ICC in Whistler.

Either the kids found the podium or Noelle and I shrunk!

Can you see 4 people in the picture?  Once you find the 4th, go watch "The Nightmare Before Christmas  and tell me who it is.  (Not planned, somehow Traycen uncovered the beast!)

The night before the race!

We have 2 days left here in NY; tomorrow is the first race of team trials in Lake Placid and Noelle's training runs have gone really well.  I will attach a few photos from the track and from our backyard here in NY.

This is an amazing train set in the basement of the Peters home where we are staying.  The kids love it!
Just part of the backyard where we went on a 3 mi loop today, pushing our double stroller by the way, over this bridge and through rough trails.  Amazing!
This is a view from the top of the track

This is Noelle's 2 handed push, since changed to a 1 handed approach

This is Noelle's new pod, she's coming back in style!
